Saturday, March 3, through Tuesday, March 27, 2007Artist’s Reception Sunday, March 11, 1 to 4 p.m. Fermin Martinez has been creating art since he was a teen in his native Dominican Republic. He began exhibiting his work in the Plainfield area and won awards in local art competitions soon after settling in New Jersey in 1989. Most of his works are samples of impressionism which include landscapes, still life, country side details, seascapes and others form of expression of the common daily life. He is an active member of art associations in the Dominican Republic as well as in New Jersey. His paintings have been widely exhibited in the Dominican Republic, New Jersey and Massachusetts. Fermin’s work had also been sought after by private collectors as well. Mr. Martinez has participated in many group and individual expositions and has accumulated numerous awards. He was a featured artist in the February 1996 show MAHOGANY on New York “Channel 25.” Fermin’s most recent award was winning first place at the 2006 Plainfield Art Show. He presented workshops on the arts for local community groups and in 2002, Fermin opened an art school and gallery in Scotch Plains, N.J. He continues to show artwork overseas, throughout the tri-state area and in Massachusetts. |
