Computer Art (A 75)
Exercise Using PSP8 Brushes
(Paint, Air, Clone, Warp, Opacity)

1. If you haven't already, Download Paint Shop Pro

2. Open up PSP 98 (Paint Shop Pro 8) either from the icon on the desktop or via the Start programs Jack Software folder.

3. Take the Product Tour of Tools Overview
   Play the movies for:

   • Tool Palette

   • Tools Options Palette

   • Materials Palette

   • Layer Palette

4. Take the Product Tour of Painting and Drawing
   Play the movies for:

   • Paint Brush

5. Don't close the movie window!

6. Select a Foreground and Background color, Gradient/Style or Pattern.
7. Create a new 600 by 600 image
8. Select the Paint Brush and paint a line (remember you can always undo)
9. Change one or more of the following and paint another line
   1. color, also try using a gradient and some patterns
   2. Opacity
   3. brush shape
10. Repeat the above several time, note what happens when you have Opacity other than 100% and paint over a line
11. Use the Airbrush
12. Use the Clone Brush
13. Use the Warp Brush
14. Use the Eraser
15. Create another Raster layer
16. Repeat from step 8
17. On the Layer palette make the new layer 60% opacity
18. Use the mover tool to move the layer

19. Save the fixed image as a PSP file so you can go back letter and improve it.

20. Save as a JPG

21. Upload the JPG to your web site.
